When most travelers visit the Boyacá region, their attention is usually focused on destinations like Villa de Leyva and Ráquira. During our trip through the area, however, we stumbled upon one of the most unusual attractions we encountered anywhere in Colombia.
Pueblito Chueco de Boyacá is a colorful attraction complex featuring giant sculptures, quirky photo opportunities, panoramic viewpoints, and the famous Upside-Down House known as Casa al Revés.
What I expected to be a quick photo stop turned into one of the most entertaining parts of our day.
What Is Pueblito Chueco?
Located near Ráquira, Pueblito Chueco is designed as a family-friendly attraction filled with oversized displays, colorful structures, and creative photo opportunities.
The attraction combines art, humor, and scenic views into a place that feels very different from the colonial towns that dominate the region.
Visitors can easily spend an hour or two exploring the various exhibits while enjoying views of the surrounding countryside.
The Famous Upside-Down House
The centerpiece of the attraction is Casa al Revés.
At first glance, the structure appears to have been built completely upside down, with the roof resting on the ground and the foundation pointing toward the sky.
Even after seeing photos online, it was still fun to see in person.
The bright colors and unusual design make it one of the most photographed attractions in the area.
For families, couples, and social media enthusiasts, it provides plenty of opportunities for memorable pictures.
The Giant Hand Viewpoint
One of my favorite areas was the giant hand sculpture overlooking the countryside.
Standing on the platform, it almost feels as if you’re being lifted above the rolling hills of Boyacá.
The viewpoint creates fantastic photo opportunities while also providing some of the best scenery we experienced during the tour.
For me, this ended up being more memorable than the upside-down house itself.
The Giant Pig and Other Displays
Another highlight was the giant pig statue dressed in a Colombian national soccer jersey.
It was impossible to miss and quickly became one of the most photographed attractions in the complex.
Throughout the property, you’ll find additional sculptures, themed displays, murals, and decorative areas that add a playful atmosphere to the experience.
The attraction doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is part of its charm.
Beautiful Views of Boyacá
While the exhibits attract most visitors, the surrounding scenery deserves attention as well.
The rolling hills and rural landscapes surrounding the attraction help showcase a different side of Boyacá that many travelers don’t see.
Several areas offer excellent viewpoints where visitors can pause and enjoy the scenery between attractions.
Is It Worth Visiting?
If you’re expecting a major cultural attraction, you may leave disappointed.
However, if you’re looking for a fun stop during a day exploring Ráquira, Villa de Leyva, and the surrounding region, Pueblito Chueco is worth considering.
The attraction is especially enjoyable for:

- Couples
- Road trippers
- Photographers
- Social media content creators
Most visitors can comfortably explore the complex in one to two hours.
What I Liked Most
For me, the biggest surprise was how much variety there was beyond the Upside-Down House.
Before arriving, I assumed the house would be the entire attraction.
Instead, we found multiple displays, scenic viewpoints, oversized sculptures, and several areas designed simply for fun.
The giant hand viewpoint was probably my favorite feature, while the giant pig statue added a sense of humor that made the visit memorable.
Final Thoughts
Pueblito Chueco de Boyacá may not be one of Colombia’s most famous attractions, but that’s part of what makes it enjoyable.
It’s quirky, colorful, family-friendly, and different from the historic towns and museums that dominate many Colombia itineraries.
If you’re already visiting Ráquira or Villa de Leyva, it’s an easy addition to your day and provides some of the most unique photo opportunities in the region.
For us, it became one of the unexpected highlights of our Boyacá adventure.
